Description
Scientific calculator with equation recall combines statistics and advanced scientific functions. Two-line display shows entries on the top line and results on the bottom line. Entry line on the top of the display shows up to 11 characters and can scroll left and right up to 88. Result line on the bottom shows up to a 10-digit answer and 2-digit exponent. Functions include common/natural logarithms, fractions, fraction/decimal conversions, degrees to decimal conversion, reciprocals, factorials, grads, hyperbolics, polar/rectangular conversions. Fraction feature allows operations with fractions and mixed numbers. Two-variable statistics allow you to enter, delete, insert, and edit individual statistical data elements. Calculator runs on solar and battery power.

Print Speed: Not Applicable
Strengths: Never have to worry about running out of battery during test with this solar calculator. Hard protective plastic. case.
Weakness: none.
This is a very easy to use calculator. The calculator including the case is very thin, so it's easy to carry. With the solar system, I will never have to worry about running out of battery.
Strengths: Ability to review and modify previous entries; hard shell protects the calculator from damage
Weakness: Large print used to display previous entries limits the portion that can be viewed at one time
The ability to modify previous entries saves time so that one little mistake does not require retyping in the whole calculation again. The hard case shell slips over the front of the calculator so as to protect the buttons and display from scratches and dents. The large print used to display previous entries allows you to see only 11 characters of any entry at one time. Viewing the rest will...
Strengths: Many different features. Solid construction of the calculator itself.
Weakness: Poor construction of the plastic protector.
Very easy to use and the buttons have a solid feel. I also like the large display so you can easily see both the equation and the answer. The two line display makes it easy to go back to previous equations and make corrections.
Strengths: easy to use, lots of features comparing the cost of the unit.
Weakness: none in its class.
My son is studying in second year of engineering and using TI 84. He advise me to buy Texas Inst calculator only. The performace and value of this device is excellent in his opinion. Customer assistance from TI is excellent. Any minor or major problem taken seriously and reasonable responce time by the customer service lead me to purchase this device.
Strengths: TI quality and solar help for the battery. Statistics and expanded K functions are useful and I like the way the XIIs stores and recalls data.
Weakness: Much harder to use than the 30Xa. Trig functions require several keystrokes instead of one or two, square roots and inverse functions a pain. This calculator is neither intuitive nor convenient.
The XIIs offers some expanded functionality over the Xa but the latter is better choice for most users of scientific calculators in this price range. It's all in what you are used to I suppose, but everything seems backward. Kind of like reverse polish notation but with lots of extra keystrokes.
Strengths: It is able to add and subtract
Weakness: Hard to find funtions
As a science teacher and math tutor, this is probably the worst scientific calculator on the market. Any student with this calculator really suffers. It is hard to find the various function. Most students spend a lot of time just trying to find the right functions and are left behind. During tests, I can see them pecking at their calculator, trying to find the right button.
Strengths: 2 line display
Weakness: case could slide on a little easier
What's not to love, the price was right, it's easy to operate. I love the two line display. It's a sturdy calculator and I'm sure it will hold up very well.
Strengths: This calculator does order of operations where most 4 function ones do not.
Weakness: none
Great calculator for the money. I love it. Although, there are many functions that I will never use this calculator is so much better than buying a 4 function which is really worthless. The pi function, the ability to compute fractions and the conversion of fractions to decimals and vice-versa are worth it.
Strengths: N/A
Weakness: none if you like un-reliable devices
This is the second calculator I had with the identical problem after a day or two of use. They just stopped working and then no matter which key I pushed the number seven (if anything at all) would appear on the screen. I know seven is a lucky number but if you ask me, it's un-lucky when the only thing your'e calculator shows you is 7777777777.

Texas Instruments TI-30XIIS Scientific Calculator
Strengths: Two line display, ability to edit equations, solar and battery power, hard case, 4 memory storage
Weakness: Lacks certain scientific functions, e.g. temperature conversion (CF)
I bought this to replace an old sharp scientific calculator that died after 20 years. This is a scientific calculator that has a two line display for inputing larger equations. However, equations are often removed when you enter equal, leaving ANS. in the display followed by your next inputs. It would be better to leave the previous equation as long as there is space on the display. It will...
