Strengths: everybody needs one if your trying to save on electric bill saw it on my local news tells you your electric bill cost for that unit before receiving your bill
Weakness: I heard this model doesn't have a backlight other model 4400 is rated better by people
when your electric bill arrives do we ever wonder what cause your bill to be so high, well now we have an answer, I saw this gadget in my local channel news and it made allot of sense, go around your house plug it in in every appliance and others and see the actual electric bill cost for that unit turned off, stand by and on and see for your self, you'll be surprise how much and difference a...
Strengths: Tells you in real dollars how much electrical appliances are costing you per hour, week, month, or year. Has an internal battery which keeps a record of how long the appliance has been monitored.
Weakness: No backlighting, so it's really hard to see! Unit takes up both outlets. Instructions don't explain everything, and my unit doesn't seem to show Hz, VA, or PF, not that I need them as far as I know.
I have only been using this for one day so far, but I've already tested at least half a dozen things. Surprisingly, lots of things don't cost as much to run as I thought they would. My 52" HDTV is only costing me about 9 cents an hour to watch. A big surprise was that my electric baseboard-type space heater (no fan) is only about 12 cents per hour until it reaches the set temp, then even less....
Strengths: Easy to use and set up. Automatically calculates rates for hour/day/month/year
Weakness: As stated previously, the display is not backlit, meaning you need plenty of light to read the results. Must look at the display head on to see as well. Extension device would be useful.
Read about the Kill A Watt on numerous sites, and finally broke down and bought one. Simple to set up and use, I agree with other reviewers that it could use a few improvements. Has worked great so far reading the easy to reach items...looking forward to using it this summer to see how much juice the window AC units in my apartment cost me!
Strengths: Simple to use. Intuitive menu scrolling.
Weakness: Plugs directly into the outlet. Doesn't come with a cord, so you will have to use an extension cord if you want to monitor the readout while testing outlet blocking appliances such as refrigerators.
I bought the version that automatically calculates the hourly, daily, weekly, monthly & annual cost per appliance. It's worth the upgrade just for the convenience factor. Calculating your electrical rate per kilowatt/hour is simple enough when you have your latest electric bill in front of you. So far I've tested the appliances whose outlets are most difficult to reach, ie: I've had to move three...
Strengths: Works as stated in ad's. Easy to set up.
Weakness: Small text under main display can be hard to read for people getting "older". Can't use on 220. Can use on only one device at a time which is really the purpose.
I have used this on my refrigerator and freezer so far. Gave me readings as advertised. I left it on both for at least a week to get the most accurate readings. If you wanted to use on clothes washer, you should probably leave it on for a month. It is mostly a novelty item to me. It is surprising how little or how much an individual appliance can cost you each month.
Strengths: Good Measurements of current usage.
Weakness: Blocks other plug on duel recepticals. Hard to read in confined space area.
I test several appliances and large electronics(TV, Computer, etc). It worked great on all of them including my Xbox360. Although I have heard that all these pluged in devices use a large amount of usage when off. I did not find that to be true, even with the xbox 360. This product did the job I was looking for.
Strengths: shows the power eaters around the house. I was defiantly surprised by the number of devices that were seemingly turned off but plugged in that still drew electricity. They are now unplugged when not i
Weakness: Screen could use a backlight but this is a minor inconvenience.
This kill a watt product allowed me to determine that the VCR was actually the biggest power draw of the house when all appliances are off. The VCR is now unpluged. I just got my first power bill after receiving this product and it is lower. I plan on using it some more to determine the cost of running and not running my appliances.
Strengths: simple to use; inexpensive; provides direct readouts of Watts being used as well as cost per year, etc to run any connected electronic device/appliance
Weakness: none
The simple, easy-to-use Kill-A-Watt EZ™ should allow you to save $100’s in electricity costs and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by allowing you to monitor the amount of electrical power being used by each of your appliances or electronic devices. LCD display shows Watts being used and calculates how much it costs you to run each device per year. For example, I formerly kept my Laserprinter...
Strengths: Easy to operate. Portable. Works best attached to short extension cord.
Weakness: Difficult to read meter in dim light conditions.
Product received was exactly as advertised. Shipment arrived in time frame promised and in excellent condition. It performed accurately right out of the box and quickly identified areas where electricity savings could be achieved.

P3 International P4460 Kill A Watt
Strengths: Shows how much a device costs you to run.
Weakness: Display not backlit. Covers two outlets.
This thing is a must have, it shows you how much it costs to run any device plugged into an outlet. Kind of a wake up call for me to see how much electricity certain items that are turned on all the time costs. The P4460 calculates the cost per hour, day, week, month and year unlike its predecessor. The device is quite large and occupies both outlets when you plug it in. I used an extension cord...
