Strengths: Small Compact; Excellent Picture Quality, Scene Mode, Great Battery Life. All Around Good Camera, Hard to Beat Sony!
Weakness: Weak Flash
I love this camera. If you are looking for a digital SLR, rest assured this is not it, go get something comparable to that, but if you are looking for a small, compact, light weight camera that takes excellent point and shoot snapshots...this camera is for you. Keep in mind the target audience for the cameras...this is targeted at point and shoot completely automatic easy to use type...
Strengths: Super steady shot, great LCD display, excellent picture quality.
Weakness: No optical view finder, very weak flash, poor low light capability.
I've had 4 generations of the Canon powershot S**, up to the SD-450, cameras before trying out the Sony T9. It's the super steady shot that got me interested and that feature has not disappointed. It is GREAT! Picture quality is as good and maybe even better than on the Canons. Video is good but not even close to the 60 fps quality of the SD-450. Low light performance is inferior to the SD-450....
Strengths: Large 2.5" screen; ultracompact; light, ease of use; beautiful and crisp images; "Steady-Shot"; slideshow feature
Weakness: Horrible Red-Eye
I have been a big fan of Sony cameras as I have been using the DSC-P71 3.2MP camera for the past 3 years. Now that that camera is starting to feel very bulky, I was looking for an ultracompact camera. I looked into the Canon SD450/550, Casios, Panasonics, and the various Sonys (N1, T5, T7 and T9). Although, Sonys are more expensive and their Memory Sticks are more expensive as well. The Sony T9...
Strengths: East to use, excellent photo quality, image stabilization feature works beautifully
Weakness: Sliding door opens too easily
I just purchased this, my third Sony cyber shot camera while here in Japan for the holidays, and I am fully impressed and satisfied by it's outstanding performance. The new ISO stabilzation feature allows for greater ease in shooting and with remarkable results. The slideshow feature is fun to use and with the enclosed cables you can easily put together quite a production indeed. The large image...
Strengths: Compact Enhanced slideshow feature, with music Super steadyshot Large LCD
Weakness: Not as compact as the DSC-T7 that I'm replacing, but that isn't really a weakness as much as it is a personal preference.
I'm replacing a DSC-T7 with this T9. I was hesitant to do that. The T7 has been my favorite of the many Sony's and other digital cameras I've owned. I always wear a t-shirt under my shirt, and the T7 disappears between my shirts when worn around my neck. The T9 is a bit thicker, but still compact. I really was swayed to buy it (even though I love my T7, as mentioned) based on the results I saw...
Strengths: Ready to shoot or capture video at a moments notice. Fantastic super macro mode. Nice video in the 640 fine mode. Good Audio - even at the 160 mode. The LCD screen is viewable in direct sun.
Weakness: The mpg video won't work with my Pinnacle9 editing software. The optical quality is very good but not good enough to support a 6 mpxl image.
"That little camera took those videos"? My friend said in amazement - and she didn't even know I was taping her dance presentation. A great camera for secluded photos or videos, catching people being themselves is where this camera shines. The steady shot does help but don't expect it to perform miracles. I take all my photos at the 3 mpx resolution - I really don't see much more photo quality at...
Strengths: Optical Image Stabilizer, small size, great screen
Weakness: Video quality not as good as expected.
Recently bought this camera to replace an old 2 MP camera. I've used it for a few weeks, and am thoroughly impressed. The image stabilization is probably the greatest strength of this camera, as it allows you to take pictures in low light without using the flash. This gives you much richer colors in your picture, as it won't be washed out by the flash. I also really like the screen. I was worried...
Strengths: Picture Quality, Macro-mode, Video-mode, handling, size, "Super SteadyShot", Display and so on...
Weakness: sliding mechanism opens too easily, battery could be a bit stronger (~200 Fotos)
I thought it would be a hard decision for me to chose a new compact camera. In summer I began to look for the new cam but none of the brands of Casio, Fuji, Panasonic, Canon etc could satisfy. Then I heard about the T9 and waited till January and I have to say that it was the right decision. I never had such great cam. It’s just awesome, it makes brilliant pictures, good and long movies (if you...
Strengths: 6M pics, small and stylish, ability to shoot in low light conditions, super-steady shot, Sony’s top-notch build quality, scores a 10 in the must-have factor
Weakness: May be too small for some with fat fingers
A perfect 10 beauty! Sony has mastered the art of industrial design. Looks expensive and extremely high-quality. Menu structure is very intuitive. Controls are well laid out. Fits right into any pockets. Photos taken are as beautiful as the camera. This is the one to take anywhere with you. Must have accessories: minimum 1gb memory stick, extra battery, case.

Sony's new Cybershot T9 delivers good pictures great features in a solid package. The T9's 6.0-megapixel CCD delivers good image quality, with good color, and high resolution. Its image sharpness and noise levels aren't quite up to the level of the best full-sized 6.0-megapixel cameras out there, but they're very good for a subcompact model. Relative to competing full-sized digicams, the T9 does...

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T9 is a very good ultra-thin camera, though it has its share of flaws. Despite the T9's negatives (which I'll cover below), the camera earns my recommendation thanks to its image stabilizer, snappy performance, and good photo quality.

Great digital camera--love the pics
Strengths: excellent pics, steady means less motion artifact, tiny
Weakness: needs a different memory stick than other cybershots, motion artifact still there when taking pics at dim or low light
This is my third cybershot DSC camera. I previously owned a P8 and W1, both of which were lost on vacation (by family members). I replaced my old W1 with another W1. When I came across the T9 and the beautiful pics that it produced, I gave my W1 away to a family member who wanted it and purchased T9. So far, I love it. There is significantly less motion or no motion on my pictures. However, in...
