Strengths: Great pasta that's fun to eat, and easy to make!
Weakness: None.
I have been rolling and cutting pasta the old fashioned way for more than a decade. I would mix it in a food processor, and then roll it out with a rolling pin and cut it with a pizza cutter.
To make various kinds of pasta in this KitchenAid Pasta Roller Attachment is much more fun. I would mix my dough either in the stand mixer or in the bread machine, let it rest under a bowl for about 30 minutes, after that I cut it into 4 - 6 pieces, flatten it out as much as I can with my hands, sprinkle it with flour, and run it through the "wringer". A few times through at progressively thinner settings, and, voila! Perfectly rolled pasta that's tender and delicious. (The resting period is a secret to tender pasta). A light sprinkling with flour before each trip through the roller or cutter is an excellent way to avoid sticking. Cleaning is a breeze - just a wipe down and it's done. If by some chance a bit of dough DOES stick in the roller or cutter, the supplied brush or a toothpick pops it right out.
Overall, I have been very pleased with the KitchenAid Pasta Roller/Cutter attachments, and would recommend the set to anyone. Just be sure (a) to flatten the dough with your hands as much as possible before feeing it through the rollers, so as not to overstrain the motor, and (b) sprinkle the dough with flour before each trip thought the roller or cutter.

TopStrengths: utilizes the kitchen aid mixer, so no other machine is needed; works at a high enough level to handle the pasta with ease
Weakness: some difficulty keeping the roller attached to the mixer; occasionally the roller would rotate when the mixer was on;remember to replace the screw on the mixer head to help anchor the roller.
It is a pleasure to find attachments that work well and replace other bulky, uncooperative gadgets in the kitchen, especially in an apartment with limited space. The price found through pricegrabber was excellent.

TopStrengths: Italians make the best pasta machines. Smart move on Kitchenaid’s part to have theirs made there. It is solid well-made and will last at least your lifetime. It will definitely outlast the mixer.
Weakness: Cookbook is too basic. But with the internet, you find okay recipes quickly. But you would think they would provide a couple of pages of killer apps for the machine you just bought.
The rollers and cutters are wider than the pasta machine I have used for the last 25-years, a big plus if you like ravioli or lasagna. Fresh pasta is a great way to create a great meal and festive atmosphere for cheap.
You just spent a lot of money on the finest piece of pasta making hardware your money can buy. Don’t buy a book, go to the library and borrow the best there. Then buy a book, the most expensive good one you can afford. Then invite your friends and family for a pasta party. With the old hand crank model we used to make 15foot lasagna in the kitchen for fun. Great party time. Keep it simple with the most expensive ingredients you can afford and it will still cost less than what you cooked before AND be more en-joyable to prepare, serve and mangiare (eat).

TopStrengths: well made - easy to use - great results
Weakness: none - as long as you already own the Kitchaid mixer
We're glad we bought this attachment - makes great pasta and is much easier to use than the hand crank unit that we used to use. Well made - and straightforward. Results: a delicious family treat.

TopStrengths: Almost a great product.
Weakness: Decidedly not ready to be on the market. Roller rotates regularly when in use. The rollers do not properly attach to the mixer due to a design flaw.
Nearly a great product -- but totally unacceptable now. The problem is that the rollers do not completely attach to the mixer (and I *have* contacted Kitchen Aid about this). A little knob on the roller is supposed to fit into a corresponding indentation on the mixer, allowing the roller to be secured properly using a thumb screw. But the knob is too big for the mixer unit, and as a result, the thumb screw does not securely affix the roller to the mixer. You can use the roller -- somewhat -- but the entire roller unit *regularly* rotates (i.e., upside down) when using. It's bunk. That said, if it secured properly, it would be worlds better than a hand crank machine -- like the Atlas.

TopStrengths: Sturdy, easy to set up
Weakness: Wish there were more recipes.
I was apprehensive about cleaning, but this went without a hitch when you clean as instructed. I still have some technique problems, but the unit works as described. I would like to have had more recipes to work with, particularly some different flavored pastas. Kitchenaid could also have recommended a cookbook to use with the unit.

TopStrengths: Durable
Weakness: Dough has to be on the dry side.
I've been eating a lot more pasta since I got these and they do a super job.
They're easy to use, and consistently produce excellent pasta if the dough is done right (it does have to be on the dry side).
A cutter width between fettuccine and spaghetti would be nice.
These are good if you like to make pasta.

One of my favorites attachment
Strengths: easy to use, works great!
Weakness: not that easy to clean
recently purchased these pasta roller attachments after having bought my first KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer (in metallic chrome). I've had no previous experience in making my own pasta, let alone making much use of a stand mixer in my kitchen. I diligently read through everyones reviews here before the purchase and was pleasantly surprised to find just how easy these roller attachments were to use in creating my very first batch of fettuccine.
