Dress up your D300

Strengths: Boost continuous shooting rate to 8fps; excellent build with material that perfectly matches the D300 outlook.

Weakness: Pricey, and the 8fps does not work with EN-EL3 battery.

I consider this a must-have for any D300 user. Not only does this improve the continuous functionality of D300, but also makes the camera looks much better. The MD-D10 battery grip comes with both EN-EL3 and 8AA battery adaptor, which makes it easy for me to change the type of battery. If I do not need the 8fps for the situation, I usually just put in the EN-EL3 batter as it is much lighter.

Must Have

Strengths: 8 FPS with 8 AA's, built quality

Weakness: Heavy

This definately gives the camera much more power, a more stable and comfortable feel for a better shooting experience.

You can choose which battery is used first in the camera setup. However, you will notice there is a trickle being used from the battery that is secondary when checking the battery status in the camera's menu. No big deal.

I absolutely recommend this as a necessary accessory.

Complete the fine D300

Strengths: Excellent build, fits very well with D300

Weakness: One minor point: shutter release button a little too sensitive

My D300 feels much balanced with this grip attached, especially with a long zoom lens on the camera. This grip has helped me to take sharp images. I have enjoyed using the little joystick (pad) on the grip. It works better than the one on the camera body. Using eight Sanyo eneloop AA NiMH batteries for the grip, I get 8 fps as advertised. Although the shutter release button on the grip is more sensitive than the one on D300, I became used to it with some practice. To me, the grip is well worth the money.

the power of it all

Strengths: wonderful build and handling

Weakness: pricy, but worth it, joypad a bit small and shutter is more sensitive than camera's

has been the perfect addition to my d300 and has been attached since the day i got it. it attaches seamlessly to the body and balances nicely with a good lens. bought more for the portrait grip and battery life than for the bump from 6fps to 8fps shooting, but it's there when i need it. battery life is a non-issue for a full day of shooting with 8aa's (though it does add to the weight). would be nice if the meter for the aa's was as accurate as for nikon's batteries and if it gave some sort of indication of when it switched to the built-in battery, but these aren't important. overall, a solid accessory and the ability to take it off when travelling light is a big advantage of the d300 (compared to the d3). note - it only has trays for an en-el3e and aa's - to use the en4's (i haven't tried) you need to buy a seperate tray for the grip, but it is supported.

Great add-on to D300

Strengths: Extra power and weight. Boosted 8FPS in CH mode! Focus point can be selected on the grip.

Weakness: The way the shutter release button feels is different with the one on the body.

Although the way the shutter release button feels is different with the one on the body, it's still a great add-on to your D300, as it boost up the CH to 8FPS with 8 AA batteries. This makes your D300 as powerful as D2X.

The BEST Thing Ever for D300

Strengths: The battery Grip is freaking awsome! Makes portrait picutres easy to take. Only three things are needed, Nikon BL-3, EN-EL4a Battery, and MH-21 charger to get the full protential of the D300 at 8 fps

Weakness: The Grip adds more weight of 4 pounds with only EN-EL3 D300 with 18-200mm kit. Also it cost extra $500 to get full 8 fps, but o-well. You gain some but lose some.

None, I love my Camera with Battery Grip. Only items are left to complete my greatest Camera are Nikon BL-3, EN-EL4a Battery, and MH-21 or 22 charger, and SB-800 Flash. After that, I only need to wait for new Nikkor Lense like my dream AF-S Zoom-Nikkor ED 18-400mm IF DX VR or better, heh. Once anyone purchase this grip for their D300, they will love it very much and ending up wanting to spend more money on their Camera, LOL. ^_^ : P
