The Model RR930 Portable Cassette...

Strengths: Easy to use, light weight

Weakness: The manual tape speed must be adjusted often, even just after changing tapes - not good. Would prefer a three-pedal foot control.

I needed to replace my old Lanier transcriber, the best one ever made, because of its age. I chose the Model RR930 because the price was right and I decided to give Panasonic the benefit of my doubts. The machine has worked fine so far, though I really, really miss having a fast-forward foot pedal. To fast forward through a tape I have to hold the button down and guess at where to stop. This is definitely not convenient. You must remember that to use the foot pedal, you must first push down the play button and leave it that way. Otherwise, nothing will happen and you'll think the machine is broken. There was a note taped to the top of the box that specified this feature, thank goodness. I would definitely consider this brand next time I need a transcriber.
