7 x 4-pin USB 2.0 USB - External - MPN: F5U237V1
Strengths: The two top loading ports are great and very acessible. High on the form factor points, very thin and stablable.
Weakness: The 5 ports in the back are a little too close together.
Well, the first one arrived with one of the top loading ports DOA. Called customer support and they said that they would replace it. I just have to send the broken one in, with me footing the shipping charges. At this point I was just going to exchange it through the online retailer I purchased it from but then noticed that they were based about 2-3 miles from me. Asked if I could used drop it off instead of shipping it. The CSR said yes. I dropped it off the next day and my replacement a few days later. However, the replacement came with the AC adapter somehow smashed open still inside the package. Called Belkin again, they agreed to send out a replacement AC adapter which arrived about a week or a week and a half later. It wasn't the same AC adapter which came with the USB hub but it had the same specs so I plugged it in and voila, 2 weeks after receiving my original USB hub, I have a fully functioning hub and AC adapter.
Now, overlooking the ordeal I went through, it's a decent hub. I bought a 7-port D-link hub while I was waiting for a working Belkin hub, and although I like my D-link more than the Belkin overall, I really like to two USB slots on top of the Belkin. It makes it really convenient for jump drives and other things that are plugged and unplugged often. Overall, it's a good hub and I'd still recommend it if the price is right.

TopStrengths: * design/look * easy access usb ports on top * "smart" & powered
Weakness: none
If you see this hub in person, you'll know why I like the look. It's very thin and sits well on a desk without tipping (like other hubs that i've used) when there are a lot of things plugged into it. If you have the need for more than 7 usb ports, it was designed so that you can stack a second one on top of it very easily. The top two ports are nice because you can plug in without reading behind the hub and fishing for a port. One cool thing about this hub is that it knows when the computer is off and shuts off powered to the usb hub (ie, for keyboards or mouse that is plugged into it). It still, however, can charge an ipod shuffle from one of the top port, even when the computer is off. Very cool - I call it "smart" power. When it is on, there are lights in the front which correspond to each device plugged into the hub.
Overall, a very well thought out and designed product.

TopStrengths: Very easy setup, Plug it in and it works with XP
Weakness: Power supply should be much smaller
Connected everything in the order the instructions called for and it works perfectly. I added two external hard drives, external DVD writer, scanner and USB turntable. It found everthing without a problem. I saw a comment about the power supply jack not fitting well. This one locks in and stays in place. (Maybe a design change?)

TopStrengths: Very original, extremely thin, sleek design with useful two top-loading ports.
Weakness: Doesn't work by USB bus power thus always has to be connected to a power adapter which doesn't weigh a lot but somewhat big for its weight.
It has been working perfectly so far. The owner's manual specifically told me in what order connection of the power adapter and USB cables had to be made, which made me a little nervous, but other than that, it's fairly easy to use and flawless.
I chose this product mostly because of its good design, and I'm glad I did. It perfectly fits in a small space on an external storage device which I put underneath the monitor. No other 7-port hubs probably fit into that thin space. This thinness cannot be realized without adapting a mini upstream port. It is almost as thin as a regular-size B connector.
Only..... the picture of this product, especially with a hole of their size in front of the top-loading ports, made me think those two ports tilt and can be stored in the hole, which should make the hub totally flat and great to carry around in a bag, but that was not the case. The hole is only useful when you want to put another same hub beneath one (see the picture I uploaded), but it was not a big disappointment since I don't carry it around anyway.
And different from another reviewer's experience, the AC plug on mine holds the male end quite firmly, and the plug doesn't come loose easily.
Initially I was planning to buy a much cheaper hub with a common design, but I'm glad I found this product and bought one instead.

TopStrengths: Has ports on top, they stack, it runs seamlessly, 7-ports, super easy to use, compact, lights tell you what USB devices are currently on, all ports are 2.0, current protection, has a great appearance
Weakness: None
This is my second hub. I got my first one about a year ago and have wanted another ever since. It has an aire of dependability. I had to get used the concept of using the ports on the top rather than running out of the front of my computer, which is actually less convenient. But once I got the hang of it, it made the hub even more useful and satisfying to own. For example, this way you can see if the flash drive is loading, and so forth. It is a really nice thing to have. What more could you ask for, or what better design could there be?

TopStrengths: Two vertical ports that are spaced well for larger devices, sturdy and won't shift while devices are attached.
Weakness: Not the best of designs for AC plug on device, ports on rear are close together.
The AC plug on the device does not have a "snap" or resistance fit to hold the male end in place. The female end seems a tad too shallow and allows the plug to loose connection if the cord is hit or the device is moved alot.
The devices has well designed vertical recievers that allows a quick connection of jump-drives of any size. The ports in the back allow adequate connection of regular cables.
This devices was easy to instal and was flawless in performance. Only drawback was the AC design problem, which if you keep the device in same position shouldn't be a major problem.

TopStrengths: I thought a 7-port hub would be very useful.
Weakness: New unit was Dead On Arrival. Could not get Belkin to honor their Warranty. DO NOT BUY FROM BELKIN
When the unit arrived DOA, I opened a Service Ticket and was sent an E-Mail with instructions on shipping it back, BUT I HAD TO PAT THE SHIPPING CHARGES ON A NEW UNIT THAT HAD NEVER WORKED. THAT'S JUST WRONG...

TopStrengths: 1.)Compact and flat design 2.)Universal AC adapter (great for traveling abroad) 3.)Work well with Windows XP pro 4.)Can be stackable on top of each other
Weakness: -Universal AC adapter is huge (very awkard for portibility) -If stack 3 more on top of each others-two ports at the bottom would be inaccessible -Too small rubbers at the bottom for skid prevention
I really like this Belkin USB hub comparing to other relatively no brands I was using. It has 7 ports, of which 2 ports are located on top. These two ports are extremely useful, yet I wish it could have been 3 or 4 since I find myself use it more often for USB thumb drives and connecting to camera. With several USB thumb drives around, it requires more USB ports. The space between each USB on the back is a bit narrow, and if you have wide USB thumb drive, it may occupy the space more than one port.
This hub works well with Win XP Pro. I connect a few external hard drives with it, and they all work fine. I am thinking to even buy more and stack them, but still wonder if the two ports on top of the bottom one would be inaccessible if stacking more than two.

TopStrengths: stackable, 7 total (incl 2 top) USB ports, hi-speed USB 2.0, metallic body with rubber wrap cover
Weakness: needs to be plugged in (AC power) full time, large head on plug
I have 2 of these USB hubs stacked (and connected one to the other). They work well together. That gives me a total of 13 usb 2 ports (6+7). I have 1 scanner, 1 laser printer, 2 ink jet printers, 5 external hard drives, 1 external dvd burner, and 1 usb video capture box - wheew! I don't have these devices on at the same time of course. But when I do turn them on, my pc detects them immediately. I also use the TOP USB ports to plug in my mp3 player or USB flash drive. It's convenient and easily accessible.
Another thing I like about this is that they are NOT made of cheap plastic. The body is made of metal (aluminum?) with a rubber wrap cover. It's heavier but looks well built and durable. If you look at other USB hubs, they are made of mostly cheap plastic. So you can drop these without worrying that they'll break.
This hub needs to be plugged in all the time (powered). Most USB hubs have to be anyway. However, the plug (head) for this is BIG. So it'll take up space on your power strip/surge suppressor. Just be aware of it because you cannot see the power supply in the retail package.

TopStrengths: 2 ports on top make it very easy for fast access, 7 ports total, portable,
Weakness: the AC power, would be really cool if power was through USB
portable, good design, small, best hub out there, good price.
would not buy any other and strongly suggest this one.
The small size make it perfect to squiz underneath my monitor.

TopStrengths: 7 ports, usb 2.0, no setup problems
Weakness: none
I have multiple USB devices and this allows me to cut down the clutter of several USB hubs. The top ports are great for mp3 devices, external drives and flash drives. I have several Belkin products and they have all been reliable and well designed.

TopStrengths: Number of ports, two ports on top perfect for USB drive use
Weakness: Huge power brick
This is the 3rd time I've purchased this USB hub. I love the fact they are stackable and you can plug in USB thumbdrives without having to reach around to the back of the hub. My only complaint is that one of the hubs I own seem to restart the USB service on my laptop everytime I plug something into it.

TopStrengths: Space saving design Stackable
Weakness: runs really hot
The USB hub runs all my USB devices without any problems. You can also stack two of these hubs which saves a lot of space. One thing to watch out for is that they run really hot, so maybe in the long run it might have some stability problems.

TopStrengths: The best feature of this hub of course is its design... having all the cables come out the back is the way they all hubs should be designed.
Weakness: Gets warm due to how thin it is.
This is a nicely designed hub. Better than most because all the cables come out the back. It makes things much less messy than most hubs are.
Its also great is having two separate connections at the top for temporary things like USB Flash drives.
As for it getting too warm, it does get pretty warm and I think its just due to the fact its so thin. Thinner than most hubs.

TopStrengths: Convenient top usb access, compact design
Weakness: Not usb poweres, BIG power adapter
I bought this hub mainly because of the sleek, compact design. I thought I would be able to use it on the go with my laptop (it only has 2 usb ports). I was disappointed to find out that it is not usb powered (my mistake, I should have read specs more carefully), and that the power adapter is so big!

TopStrengths: Innovative design, Versatility of use
Weakness: Bulkier AC adapter
This is a great accessory and I believe is a necessity considering the number of USB peripherals being used these days. Top-loading two ports are quite useful. I am sure one would need dedicated external power supply for the number of devices it would cater to.

TopStrengths: 7 total ports, including 2 easy access ports on top. LED's for individual port status.
Weakness: Power supply is oversized, takes too much space on surge protector. Would have prefered inline rather than on the plug.
This is a huge upgrade from my 4 port cheapo hub. Previously played a guessing game if hub was working, the LED's take the guess work out of that. The 5 ports on the back of the hub trail in the same direction as the connector and power supply providing a sleek appearance. I had been watching this hub for quite sometime and finally found a deal I could not pass up. I would highly recommend this hub to friends and family.

TopStrengths: Works seamlessly, looks good with slim profile and front LEDs, 2-top vertical ports useful, includes USB cable to connect to computer
Weakness: Huge wall-wort AC power supply, very lightweight - may need to anchor to desk with adhesive
I recommend this unit. It looks good on my desk, with it's slim profile, matte black finish, and red and green LEDs on the front. The two vertical ports are great (from the photo I thought perhaps it swiveled up and down, but it's fixed). Installation on WinXP Pro was hassle-free: just plug it in. Runs at USB 2.0 speed and provides power to attached devices (iPod Nano), as advertised.
Only two minor problems: First, it's very lightweight - not flimsy, just light, as are most USB hubs - so I found it best to anchor it to my desk with some double-sided adhesive mounting tabs. Second, the wall-wort AC power supply is ridiculously large. I expect to have a wall-wort on this type of device, but it really doesn't need to be this big. However, this is not the kind of hub you take with you - get one of those mini 4-port hubs for that.
I bought at Buy.com, paid about $16 after $10 of $30 Google Checkout discount and $10 Belkin mail-in rebate, with free shipping.

Belkin Review
Strengths: 1) great customer service 2) top usb ports 3) small footprint
Weakness: not much, not the best looking thing color wise, but very usable
Its great that it has 2 usb ports on the top, its great for things such as flash drives, or plugging something in quickly. I was looking for a hub and this thing is the best i found, and its also pretty cheap after the rebate and google checkout. I highly recommend this for anyone looking to plug multiple things in. It has a small footprint for those who are in a confined space. The great design makes it very versatile. I have had great experiences with belkin customer service, although i doubt you will have a problem, as usually belkin makes great products.
