A great movie, although it may be too violent for some viewers. It starts off rather funny, with the character so addicted to self-help groups that he attends ones that are for problems he doesn't even have! Then the plot takes one of many twists, and you're in for a wild ride!(I don't want to spoil the suprises).Tight direction and top-notch acting go hand in hand with a good script, making this off-beat classic one of the best films I've seen in recent years.

Amazing movie. Gripping from beginning to end. I still don't know if I entirely like the end, but the rest of the movie more then makes up for its fallacies. Any non-conformists, or anarchists will absolutely love this film.

A darkly humourous films with many very funny moments particularly Ed Norton's characters's monologue about his sad IKEA lifestyle. It's not as violenmt as it's reputation and there are one or tow gross out bits e.g. when Norton and Pitt go salvaging for human body fat for Pitt's soap business. However, it's the ending that spoils it for me and loses one star. Too much of a wierd David Lynch type cop out for my liking.

Fight Club Blu-ray Disc

A nihilistic descent into schizophrenic madness that I can't stop watching. Maybe it's the intricate photographic work, maybe it's Fincher's ear for dialogue, maybe it's the spellbinding performances by Ed Norton, Helena Bonham Carter, Meatloaf, and Brad Pitt, maybe it's all of the aforementioned.....it's an obsessive relationship that I never want to end. From the opening "needle drag" and Dust Brothers intro, you're swept into the dreary dirge of Norton's anticipated existence (recounted through jarring skips and flashbacks), never suspecting the ease with which he ends up dealing with his insomnia-induced repression. Shot through with trenchant humor, jabs at popular culture, and gnarly twists throughout, you'll find yourself enjoying it a little more than you should. A few "squirm and shifts" from time to time (and his name is Robert Paulson), but with a title like "Fight Club", you shouldn't expect shortbread at high tea. Get the disc and see for yourself why this film instills such ardor among its legion of loyal and eager fans.

Absolutely wretched. Any quality acting is lost among all the nonsense. A chief character eventually turning out to be a figment of another characters imagination was the "twist" and a bad one. Maybe people like it because it calls to the basic animal instinct to just beat the crap out of someone. There is no reason to waste time seeing this garbage.

A very good movie. The first time I watched it I didn't get it. I watched it again and listened to an interview of Ed Norton, and Brad Pitt, then I began to get it. Since then I've probably watched it two or 3 more times and pick up more and more each time. It's a brilliant film. How I didn't see it from the beginning I don't know. The twists and turns this movie take. It really makes you pay attention and think, it's not a movie that you can flip back and forth to or watch while you're doing something else. Ed Norton-a fantastic actor. Brad Pitt-more than just a pretty face. I like to watch this when I'm alone so there are no distractions.

A movie that contains no optimism and has protagonists spreading evil, this one should certainly be avoided at all costs by everyone. The "hero" of the movie containmates restaurant food and makes illegal soap. These insane people then want to fight to be able to feel. That makes no sense. This, of course, leads to alot of gore and blood, with senseless violence all around. Of course, this terror of a movie got critically acclaimed. But we all know adult means sexual and gritty means filled to the brim with senseless violence. Whatever happened to the G-rated live-action genre?

A powerful punch of a movie. Tough hard hitting drama, with Edward Norton as the nameless star. Pitt and Bonham-Carter are excellent in support. But this is Finchers film, his direction is faultless, crafting the music, orchestrating the editing to weave his magic.

Fight Club Blu-ray Disc

an interesting movie. i wish i could have given it five stars, but its direction and storyline are so smart sometimes, that it's a little choppy. it's fast-paced, dark, exciting, and intriguing. it will generate many, many fans. the good guys in this movie are men from essentially all walks of life, who come together to carve out of gore an identity for themselves be it triumphant or tragic, in secretive, underground, boxing arenas. when the intensive self-degradation and desensitization flower into a secret nationwide franchise and take on the characteristics of a revolutionary coup (uh, exactly who are we stealing the power back from again; the women? oh right, i forgot, questions aren't allowed, sorry) you almost pray the good guys never win. helena bonham carter's character, the ultimate filthy tramp, is accused by norton's narrator of "wrecking" everything early in the film, presumably by coming between him and pitt's guy, the group's leader, but ironically, later, it's norton's love for her that gives him a more compelling option, and convinces him to bring pitt down. this all makes it seem that the novel, and the screenplay, to keep up with it, was written kind of manically, recklessly, in order to keep the hateful and angry drive going that fueled the story's more imaginitive parts. definitely a movie chock full of extremes, and little of that boring ol sanity stuff. interesting.

Fight Club Blu-ray Disc

David Fincher always manages to direct the kind of films that take the viewer to the deepest, darkest recesses of the psyche and have them relate to it consciously or subconciously. "Fight Club" is a fine example of this! And Fincher's presentation of the film proves that as his skill is improving, his cynacism and originality remain intact. (The IKEA scene was much lauded and I know will be much emulated in the future.) The script in this film blew me away with it's colorful narration and crisp dialogue. The acting in this film was phenomenal. It wasn't so much Edward Norton that surprised me as what I've seen of his talent he could play the transvestite in "The Crying Game" and have us all completely fooled, nor was it Brad Pitt who by the way hasn't exuded so much personality in a film since "12 Monkeys". It was Helena Bonham Carter who fleshed out Marla so beautifully that it was difficult to sympathize with her, yet it was impossible to hate her as well. And Meatloaf, who was completely surprising, was so touching and funny in his portrayal of Bob. But let's talk about the violence in this movie. I'm going to have to agree with Ploughman on this one: the violence in "Fight Club" is as signifigant as it was in "A Clockwork Orange" and should not be missed. Watching a film with the word "Fight" in the title and not expecting violence is like watching "Faces of Death" and not expecting to be traumatized! But the fight scenes are not only representative of Norton's inner turmoil (as Ploughman pointed out so insightfully), but an example of the lengths we go to to feel more alive, more complete in a society where we are becoming merely human counterparts to the technology we create. With that, if you haven't seen this film, watch it, and let the fight scenes make an imprint in your mind. What I find disturbing is not this film, but that the Academy chooses to recognize three-hour long drivel like "Titanic" and "The English Patient" and almost completely ignores brilliant, insightful explorations into the human condition like "Fight Club"!

Fight Club Blu-ray Disc

This movie is as incredibly weird and disturbing as it is strangely compelling. The dialogue/narration, especially at the beginning of the movie, is probably some of the most creative I have ever heard. Edward Norton gave an excellent performance and this is easily one of the most memorable from Brad Pitt. Helena Bonham Carter was extraordinary as Marla and looked so much as though she had just exited the set of a Tim Burton movie that I kept expecting to see sharp, pointy blades shoot out her fingers. She really took a daring trip to the opposite end of the range spectrum when you consider her past roles in "Lady Jane" and "Room with a View". Overall, this film is like an episode of the "Twilight Zone" on mega-doses of steroids. And, even though I hated the violence and agree with "Wiggum" that the ending was unsatisfying, I would have to give it 4 stars due to originality, creativity and the high level of performances given by these three actors.

I felt I had to rate this film to point out an error a lot of people seem to be making. The fighting that everyone is going mad about in the film, while being very accurate and thus nasty to watch, is also supposed to symbolise the inner turmoil going on within Edward Nortons charachter. The person who recommended people watch it but fast forward the fight scene's, is mis guiding people. The fight scenes are as important as the rest of the story, as they are supposed to give you an actualisation of his inner turmoil. Well, in my opinion, anyway. One more point- everyone seems to think that the main charachters name is Jack (Nortons), but if you watch the film again, you will see he only adopts this name after reading an article in a magazine he found in the house he shares with tyler- something about Jack's Kidney or something- anyway the point is we never find out his name, as it's not considered important because all that happens is done by Tyler anyway. Opinionated- I am, Right- your call!

A great and scary movie. Call me paranoid, but I see this as the anthem of the neo communists (Did you think those KGB moles just went away? Do you think Hollywood does not deserve their liberal label?). It advocates violence against buildings but not people -- just like the WTO riots. It demonstrates the underground structure of the Earth Liberation Front. It does a great job of ignoring the value of technology. It also ignores the way capitalism encourages people to use resources wisely; how will that unseen person manage to find time to wash his clothes and go shopping?

I first saw this film when my partner brought back a pirate copy from Khazackstan for my 19th and I loved it. At the beginning I thought I was imagining things when an image of Brad Pitt is imposed onto a frame in the film about 3 times. Very clever, you can see the insominia is building up with the main character. It is a very intresting concept and acted out very well.

When I saw the trailers for this movie, my first thought was "Great, another movie chock-full of testosterone and senseless violence..." Then one of my best friends came to me, raving about the movie and insisting that I go see it with him, immediately. I'm not one to pass up a free night at the movies, so I went, and what I saw delighted, shocked, and excited me. Fight Club, hands down, is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The original plot sucked me in from the beginning. Norton's brilliant portrayal of our average Joe (or in this case, Jack), plagued by the monotony of everyday life and lack of personal direction, shines in every scene, especially the voice-overs. Brad Pitt does a wonderful job of Durden, the little devil in all of us. Smart dialogue, great acting, original plot, awesome soundtrack (yay dustbrothers!), incredible camera work, and a surprise ending make this movie one wild ride. I'd reccommend it to anyone willing to look past a some excess violence for an awesome movie!

Fight Club was an emotional rollercoaster equipped with twists and turns that I could hardly prepare myself for. Disregarding the superfluous amount of violence, this movie was one of the most interesting movies I have seen since the Usual Suspects. I left the movie appreciating Brad Pitt and Edward Norton as genuine actors rather than Hollywood pin-ups. Note: This is a great movie to rent since you have the power to fast forward through the disgustingly violent scenes without missing too much of the plot.

I really liked Fight Club. Yes, it is extremely violent and at times it is a little confusing but as a whole, I thought it was a very original story. The Fight Club DVD is very cool because it comes with an extra disc that has a bunch of interviews with the actors and director. It was just a twisted dark story and for some reason, I got really into. Now, it could have been the six pack of beer that I drank while watching it...I don't know.

I had high expectations for this movie, and I was disappointed. Fight Club chose a theme with a great deal of potential (the alienation of middle-class males in modern society), combined it with a very creative plot idea (a typical middle-class male begins an underground revolution by returning to throw-back gladiatorial violence), and produced an uneven story with an unsatisfying conclusion. It could have been so much better!
