I said it before, not a huge fan of slime in movies unless we're talking about Ghostbusters. What's not to love about Slimer? and the Stay-Puft marshmallow man was sooo cute!

Good, but not great. Oddly, I don't even really think of it as a comedy as much as I think of it as a "summer movie"--I remember it came out during the summer and it seemed like the type of movie everyone was supposed to see. I didn't see it then; I had to catch it on TV years later.

Enjoyed this movie when it was released in the 80s it is hard to watch now. The special effects dominate the film and the soundtrack is very much of the era. (Semi-disco?) Bill Murray was just O.K. and the rest of the cast is just O.K.

All time favorite movie! I guess some just don't get the type of "dry" humor that Murray presents. I would recommend this movie to anyone of any age, it would be a trajedy to go through life and never experience this.

A cult classic with some wonderful one-liners. I still can't believe that Sigourney Weaver is in this one. Seems like such a far cry from Aliens....Great movie.

The top grossing film of 1984, "Ghostbusters" (directed by Ivan Reitman) was a nice mix of child and adult comedy. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson are paranormal investigators (or "ghostbusters") in New York City. The quartet capture ghouls, ghosts and other goblins in portable containers and keep them "permanently" secured at the office which is held down by their secretary (Annie Potts) until an unbeliever shuts off the power releasing the carnage back on the city. All this is just a prelude to the big showdown with Gozer the demon who has taken over a building and two of its tenants, Murray's love interest played by Sigourney Weaver and the resident pathetic CPA (Rick Moranis). What makes this film work is the chemistry between Murray, Aykroyd and Ramis as they counter balance each other's personalities. Moranis was perfectly cast as well. Moreover, the comedy still holds up today as do the special effects. My only complaint is that the addition of Ernie Hudson felt forced as if the producers decided halfway through the movie to add an African-American actor. The bottom line is that "Ghostbusters" remains a funny film even after almost 20 years.

Original and funny. Bill Murray and Dan Akaroid (did I spell that right?) rock! Love the fact that the evil monster at the end is a marshmallow guy.

"Ghostbusters" the movie was OK, but the song was great and has become a part of modern American culture- "Who ya gonna call- GHOSTBUSTERS!". Seriously, no one over 12 can honestly give this movie a 5 star ranking. Its great ford kids, but like Home Alone, becomes a bit old as you grow.

Another Bill Murray classic! Humor is a mix of slapstick and dialogue. The plot is a good one, and it is obvious why two more sequels were made plus the well-executed comic spinoffs. The remaineder of the cast is well-rounded and the laughs keep coming. Highly recommended!

I'am quite embarrased to say that I was extremly disappointed with Ghostbusters. I just hated Bill Murray. He was so annoying and unfunny, and he thinks that he's god's gift to women or something. Rick Mornais was a total dweeb like his is in all of his movies, and Sigourney needs to get a life.

One of my all time favorates. I've seen this movie countless times and I still havn't seen it enough. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is b/c the villian at the end and pretty much the entire immediate climax was dumb. I ain't afraid of no ghost.

Ths movie is so funny! I think it's cute and reminds me of the 80s. I recommend it if you just want to have a good time. Also, the soundtrack rocks. I love Hot Night by Laura Branigan

O.K. Maybe if you're under 12, this movie deserves a higher rating, but I think you have to look at this as the beginning of the decline for Bill Murray. The funniest thing about this film is that the song, "Ghostbusters", was actually a #1 hit on the radio. What was America thinking? Whoyagonnacall?
