The Birds

A true classic, worthy of 5 stars. The scene where the gas starts flowing across the street builds up to a creepiness unknown in most horror films today. The cast is excellent and the story flows nicely.

The Birds

After Psycho, Hitch's attempt at the nature hooror film, and definitely the best of that type. I love the editing and camera work. The special effects are dated, but it is a very creepy movie. It creeps up on you - very good pacing. Never was much of a fan of Tippi Hedren, but the scene at the gas station where the man bursts on fire and the end when the birds have taken over the town really jolted me. I liked it more as a kid, but I give props to Hitch for his diversity. He's the precursor to people like Spielberg. You also see muchof Hitch's work in Kubrick.

The Birds

Teppi Hedren is an insufferable airhead. Jessica Tandy looks, well, Overly paranoid. Also stars a very young Veronica Cartwright, who gets some of the best lines in this offbeat movie. Great visuals and sound design, with no "score" to speak of, although a children's song and timely editing is used to great effect. Not Overly scary, slow at first, but very fun to watch from the point that Tippy Tippi gets her head drilled by a seagull.

The Birds

Anytime I see a black bird of any type sitting on a fence or an electrical line, I run !

The Birds

One of Hitchcock's finest films that has all the flair that he was known for. The playgroud seen is just to spooky. The birds out of the chimney scare you half to death, and the whole bit with the eyes eaten out of the farmer is almost revolting. See it for the classical quality and for the horror.

The Birds

Some joker suggests Wesley Snipes was in this movie. Duh? Actually, this is classic Hitchcock, although, the last scene was edited out which explains why the birds acted the way they did. You have to read the book to get the answer, but it is a good read also. Tippi Hedren is hot, just my type! Rod Taylor, a very good actor (Hotel), does his thing well also. The suspense builds and the playground scene when the birds are gathering and the kids are in the schoolroom singing 'Wissletee, wassletee' oblivious or the danger is a perfect example of the medium Hitchcock excelled in. It is a dark movie. Someone suggested it should have been done in black and white..well it was, I have it. You must have seen the Ted Turner colorized version.

The Birds

Had this film been shot in black and white, it would have been a lot more suspense-inducing. But, as it is, it's still a great film. Not one of Hitch's best but good enough for all its praise.

The Birds

The Birds is an extremly chilling and scary movie that stars supermodel of the 60's, Tippi Hedren. The film is pretty bloody for it's time, and it is pretty graphic, but I would want my kids to see it, because I want them to get used to watching these good movies.

The Birds

Hitchcock at his best. Considering it was produced in the 60's, the SFX are fantastic. The plot is his usual suspense and making you wait to see what happens. It really does ask a question - what would we do if different species turned on us???Oh yes, since when was Wesley Snipes in Hitchcock films done in the 60's?????

The Birds

See if you can figure out why the birds kill people. If you can't, the story is my Daphne du Maurier, and Hitchcock edited out the final scene in the film (which explained).

The Birds

This movie got me afraid of birds most of my childhood. Great effects for an old movie.

The Birds

This movie was stupid and boring. It wasn't even scary. They should have just killed the birds.

The Birds

Interesting film but not that really that thrilling or scary. Yeah yeah a whole lot of birds hanging around, attacking school kids, attacking the town folk. What doesn't anyone in this little town have couple o' shotguns with some scatter shot in 'em?

The Birds

Hitchcock does it again. This is a great score. The movie takes a Jaws style of scare and puts it in the skies. You'll never look to the sky the same.

The Birds

Proving once again that build-up is the key to suspense, Alfred Hitchcock successfully turned birds into some of the most terrifying villains in horror history.
